Troughout this whole project i feel as though a have done my best and had learnt many things in the process.
one thing that i improved on was im team working skill, honestly im someone who prefers to work on thier on and hate reling on others, however as i was in a group of three members, i have learnt the more ideas you have the better your opening title sequence can be by involving everyones ideas however not everything goes to plan and you cant always get your own way.
another thing i have learnt is that making a opening itle sequence isn't as easy as it sounds, and that quite often you have to go back out and reshoot once more or perhaps many times untill you are fully satified with what you've got, but not only you, your whole group has to be pleased with it.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I had done Media Studies in GCSE's and throughout that course of two years a had gained much knowledge on Media and Film technolgies such as using a camera and putting up a tripod etc, as had another member of my group Jade Mitton, however Kathryn Powell, another member of our group, has not had as much knowledge as a result of only doing Media in A-Level.
During the course of making our Opening title sequence i have relearnt the shortcuts on the keyboard, that makes the editing time quicker and much easier, and more knowledge of how to use imovie on the Apple Mac computers and how to connect the camera to the tripod correctly.
One thing is have learnt also is that you have to relie on your group and exceeding amount, you have to take everyone's idea and views into content and make sure everyone is pleased with the outcome and storyline.
When one mentions 'making an opening title sequence' many think it will be easy and does not releise that it take much work involved with filming, then refilming, editing then finding out you have to refilm again and the amount of time this process includes.

How did you attract/address your audience?
From looking back to my reasearch i had looked at pervious ghost films, such as 'The Exorcist' and 'Paranormal Activity', then we tried to discover what we will need in our film to attract an audience, however it was awfully difficult bacuse different people like different things and subjects, but we also had to try and make our film a lttle different from others and studied the way those other films did to get there audience's attantion.
With our Opening, it doesn't have anything leading up to the main scene except the credits, of which is essential, then it goes straight onto the Ouija board, we hope that when the audience see the opening, they would think to themselve 'why are they doing this' and 'whats going to happen after' which would make them want to watch on and discover the rest of the film and what happens to the 3 students.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
As a group, we all decided that it would be appropiate to rate our opening title sequence an 18 therefore out auidience would be anyone at the age of 18 or above. Tihs decision was made under the circumstance of the use with the Ouija board; there are many dangers involved when an Ouija board is in use, and we did not want to make younger children to beleive that it is safe and just a game or something to muck around with. Also because it one of those types of horror film where it is unsuitable for anybody under the age of 18 to watch.
Our opening title sequence and appeal to any gendre to whom wants to watch it, females or males, there is no direct gendre towards either.
Previously i had researched film ratings and which each age specify, i had discovered that 18's has violence, drugs, heavy swearing (unappriote language) and more, we had decided that it was appropiate that our film should be rated in 18 as a result of this.

What kinds of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
personally I think that the media institution that might distribute our media product would maybe be something Hollywood, as i feel that a British institution wouldn't really be interested in the film, but also i beleive that an american horror film relates to our film more than a british one and that our film may be more alike an american horror.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Personally our opening title sequence deasn't really represents any particular social group, we don’t have that type of film which is overly stereotyped like some films are. For example chick flicks are mainly for women and teenage girls as most chick flick films are about falling in love in one way or another. Whereas our 'big picture' of the fim is about contacting the dead, you could say that it could be for people who are interested in the dead such as Mediums for example, however many people likes different types of horror films as there is such a a huge range. The characters in the film are just ordinary students that are looking for something strange and out the ordinary; personally i dont think there is a certain type of “Click” in our film, sometimes in films you have the certain "clicks" take 'Mean Girls' for example; you have the 'plastics', 'jocks', 'geeks' etc.
In our Opening Title Sequence, the colours are very dark, gloomy and lacks any sunlight to get across to the audience that something bad may accur, also having these types of colours could attract some viewers that are sometimes called 'Emo's, Grundgers' as they are sometimes into horror and dark, evil stuff.

Evaluation- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My media product used, developed and challenged the forms and conventions of a real media product by firstly looking at a opening title sequence producers and their work; such a Kyle Cooper, who had produced the openings to 'Se7en' and 'Seven Pounds' and also a huge range of many other different films and the genres, varying from 'Detective' to 'Chick Flick'. Whilst going through the Research process we had decided to aim towards 'Horror' and 'Thriller'. Once this choice was made we came up with out 'Bigger Picture' (the story line throughout the film that is in the process of being made) and thought of ideas of what our product should look like.
The title of film:
We had decided to call our film 'child's play' because the story line is about three people summoning a child sprit in a fit of lashing out that had died there with her parents, the 'child' starts to killing them one by one, however not straight away, she plays games with them, graduary getting to the point of murder, however one does manage to survive which leads to an sequal.
The title is displayed within the first fame; written on the cover of a book in red paint, the 'red paint' conotes blood and danger however the group had decided to make intertextual reference to another film e.g '6th Sence' by using a particular colour throughout the whole film to conote a particular emotion or something in particular, this will also add to the suspence the audience is held in, while , hopfully, they are wondering what is happening with the oujia board and wants to keep watching, this suspense is also supported by the music, the atmosphere should have a suspense to keep the audience on the edge of their chairs.
Settings and locations used:
One reason why we have made our setting dark and bare with only candles as the lighting is to help create the atmosphere and tension. The setting is suppose to be set in a Victorian house, quite old fashioned, however we had difficulties making the setting quite Victorian, so we had decided to make the setting bare except for the table and the contents upon it (oujia board, candles, and insent burner) this is very popular in horror/thriller films as it make the audience feel tense and in this dark empty space as well, once this setting is shown on the opening title sequence, instantly the genre is set in place with the audience and atmosphere. I had came up with the idea of using a black room, my group had agreed and i went to ask if it was possible to use my drama teachers room and he said yes.
Constumes and props used:
In ours fames, there are only three people present (a male and two femals), and their costums arn't exceedingly great, as a result of our idea had been changed from them being paraphycologists to school children, their costums were casual looking as if they have been to school then straight to this 'haunted' house. In many film of a verity of genre's 'casual' clothing is used particulary however certain clothing such as 'suits' is also used to inform the audience their working class, adding to this, costumes could provide the audience with clues of the characters and their personality by making assumptions or comparing them to 'real life'.
Title font and style used:
when the group was looking at the other opening title sequences, one main thing is the credits, that tells you who is in the film and who directed/edited etc. One of the thing that our group didn't want to do was to just insert credits straight from imovie, so the idea of using a book as a diary was created. Because of the era the ghost is from we had to make a diary look old, so we stained the pages with coffee and tea to give it that aged look and feel. then i wrote the credits in the book in neat cursive writing, we included who was staring in the film and who edited and directed. This is how our film will start, with the book opening on its own.
How the characters are introduced:
The characters in our film isn't really introduced properly in the opening of it as there is no dialogue other than the voice over on the 'dear diary..', straight after the credits, the lights come up on the three children with the oujia board, personally i think not introducing the characters within the first few minutes can be quite powerful and would make the audience want to watch on and see who these three youngsters ae and why they are doing an ouijia board.
